The First Edition of the EURICLEA Research Mentorship Program Begins

22 Oct, 2024

From the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer, we continue to support our researchers at all stages of their professional careers. In this case, with the great success of the first call for the EURICLEA Research Mentorship Program, whose goal is to promote the development of early-career researchers through mentorship by highly qualified experts with extensive experience in the academic-research environment.

After two years as a pilot project, with the participation of 50 mentor-mentee pairs (18 pairs in 2022 and 32 in 2023) and a high level of satisfaction, the EURICLEA Program has been opened to the entire university community. The first official edition of the EURICLEA Program began on October 10th with a meeting of all the paired mentors and mentees. Although it was initially planned to admit only 30 pairs, the high number of applicants led to the final count being 34 pairs. A total of 82 researchers, composed of 44 mentors and 38 mentees from all the university’s Schools, registered on the EURICLEA Program platform. This platform, available at https://euriclea.urjc.es/, contains all relevant information about the program. Participants can access resources, guides, and key details for the mentorship program’s development.

In this edition, the distribution of mentees by school is as follows: EIF: 5; ESCET: 2; ETSII: 0; FAH: 5; FCCOM: 3; FCEYEM: 10; FCEDYEI: 6; FCS: 3; FCJYP: 0. We encourage researchers from Schools with less representation in the program to stay tuned for future calls, which will be held each academic year. We remind applicants who were not paired that they will have priority in the 2025-26 call.
