Take part in the consultation on the ERA Act

17 Dec, 2025

We encourage the scientific community to participate in the public consultation on the European Research Area Act. This consultation is aimed at, among other stakeholders, the research and innovation communities, including higher education institutions. You can also participate as a citizen.

The aim of the consultation is to gather information on the challenges facing the development and full implementation of the European Research Area, together with opinions on viable solutions that could be supported by EU-level legislation.

To contribute to the public consultation on the ERA Act, please fill in an online questionnaire on this website in any official EU language. The consultation will remain open until January 23, 2026.

What is the ERA Act?

After several voluntary measures, the Commission will propose binding legislation for all Member States that promotes innovation, reduces fragmentation, and boosts the EU’s competitiveness. This initiative aims to strengthen investment in R&D and achieve the target of 3% of GDP.

It will focus research support more on strategic priorities, strengthen harmonization between EU and Member State funding priorities, and promote the free movement of knowledge and talent across Europe.
