The recording of the event, Key changes to the Ethics Appraisal Process in Horizon Europe, identifying serious and complex issues in EU-funded projects and addressing ethics of Artificial Intelligence, organized by DG RTD and held on July 9, 2021, is available for online viewing:
These are the main novelties:
- Explicit declaration of conformity with the European Code for Research Integrity.
- Exclusivity of the civil use of technologies. “The misuse”, outside the realm of security technologies, will be treated as a “cross-cutting issue”. Now the aspects related to dual-use will no longer be reviewed by the ethics panel.
- Specific section for issues related to Artificial Intelligence.
The revised version (07/13/2021) of the guiding document on how to fill in the ethics self-assessment check is available at https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/docs/2021-2027/common/guidance/how-to-complete-your-ethics-self-assessment_en.pdf
