The European Partnership One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (EUP OHAMR), launched in June 2025 under the Horizon Europe program, has announced new information about its work program for the coming years. This initiative, with a planned duration of ten years, brings together 53 organizations from 30 countries both within and outside the EU, with the aim of addressing the challenges associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in a coordinated manner.
The program is structured around four areas: R&D funding, capacity building, data exploitation, and knowledge transfer, with the aim of generating real impact on policies and practices.
The HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-09-01 call for proposals opens up the opportunity to submit proposals focused on three main areas:
Topic 1: Development of new combination treatments using existing or innovative antimicrobials, with or without complementary treatments, to increase their effectiveness and combat resistance. We are looking for evidence-based therapies that improve the action of drugs and increase their availability and effectiveness.
Topic 2: Creation of tools and methods that improve adherence to treatment protocols. Proposals should identify the factors that limit adherence in humans, animals, or plants, and implement innovative solutions, including digital and socio-behavioral ones, with special attention to vulnerable groups.
Topic 3: Assessment of the impact of antimicrobials used in veterinary medicine and agriculture on the transmission of AMR to humans and the environment. The aim is to generate evidence to guide policies that restrict certain antimicrobials for human use only and improve formulations, dosages, and administration regimens in the animal and agricultural sectors.
