Artificial intelligence and earth observation: From innovation to services

On March 9 and 10, 2026, the hybrid workshop Artificial intelligence and earth observation: From innovation to services will be held, organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defense Industry and Space (DG DEFIS), with the support of HaDEA. The event will bring together Copernicus and DestinE users, digital and Earth observation service providers, policy makers, industry, academia, and digital technology experts.

The conference will address the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, high-performance computing, and big data in the evolution of Copernicus and the development of new services based on Earth observation data. It will also analyze the challenges and opportunities associated with this technological ecosystem, taking into account user needs and the development of solutions based on reliable AI.

The program will include high-level presentations, technical presentations, round tables, and practical demonstrations, as well as opportunities for interaction between participants. In-person attendance is now at full capacity, but online registration remains open until March 1, 2026.
