EURICLEA Mentoring Program for Researchers

22 Jul, 2024

Last July 5th, the First Edition of the EURICLEA Mentoring Program for Researchers was launched, after two years of great success as a pilot program implemented under the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) that the URJC launched in July 2020, after obtaining the HRS4R Excellence Award for its ascription in 2018 to the European Code for Researchers. The Code establishes a series of principles and recommendations that institutions that fund and are in charge of research staff must comply with in order to strengthen the European Research Area.

Within this framework and with the aim of training junior researchers from any field of knowledge, the URJC launched the EURICLEA Mentoring Program in 2022 as a pilot project that has had two phases, one in 2022 and another in 2023. In these initial phases 50 mentor-mentee pairs have participated (18 pairs in 2022 and 32 in 2023), who showed a high degree of satisfaction with the program.

From July 2024, the program will cease to be a pilot program and will be open to the entire university community, thus launching the first edition of the EURICLEA Mentoring Program for Researchers.

The objective of the Euriclea Program is to connect junior researchers (mentorees) with qualified researchers with a solid research career (mentors) so that the mentors will guide and accompany the mentorees in the development of their research career in the University.

The First Open Edition will be developed over a period of twelve months, with the aim of promoting the development and integration of junior researchers in the URJC, thus contributing to their professional success as researchers.

The Euriclea platform (https://euriclea.urjc.es/) also accessible from the University’s intranet, has been launched to create the mentor/mentee pairs.
