On Friday, 10 December 2021, the URJC Rector, Javier Ramos, presented together with the VIce-rector for Innovation, Transference and Relations with Companies, Fernando García Muiña, and the Vice-rector for Research, Visitación López-Miranda González, the Strategy of the European Commission’s Quality Award “HUMAN RESOURCES STRATEGY FOR RESEARCHERS (HRS4R)”. The event, conducted by the journalist Sonsoles Moralejo, aimed to examine the key aspects of the HRS4R Strategy and the opportunities it represents for URJC researchers.
The video of the event is available in this link.
The URJC endorsed the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers in September, 2018, thus, making the commitment to align the internal policies of the URJC in research matters with the principles of these European instruments.
The HRS4R Award is a hallmark, granted by the European Commission to those organisations and institutions which generate and support the existence of a stimulating environment which enhances research. The URJC was granted the Award in July 2020 and, together with 144 Spanish institutions, it is one of the 639 European organisations distinguished by this Award.
To implement the Strategy, the URJC drafted a Plan of 18 actions which is structured in four pillars: (1) ethical and professional aspects; (2) recruitment and selection; (3) working conditions and (4) professional training and development.
Between June and July 2022, the European Commission will assess how the Action Plan has been implemented and, if necessary, it will issue recommendations to improve it. The work plan will continue to be developed until 2025 when the European Commission will visit the URJC premises to carry out a final assessment and determine if the URJC has implemented specific measures to guarantee the fulfilment of the principles of the European Charter and Code for Researchers.
