The European Commission will launch on 10 September 2025 the call ‘Scaling up deep tech ecosystems’ (HORIZON-EIE-2026-01-CONNECT-03), in the framework of the Horizon Europe programme, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between European scientific infrastructures and the industrial and innovative fabric, especially in emerging technologies.
The call will be open until 20 January 2026 (17:00 Brussels time).
Objective
Support the development of innovation ecosystems around European research infrastructures to accelerate the scalability of disruptive technologies (deep tech) with high market and societal value.
Actions envisaged
The selected proposals will:
- Identify deep tech innovations with potential industrial impact.
- Fund pilots in 3 to 5 technology areas related to research infrastructures.
- Promote synergies between industry (including SMEs and startups) and the scientific environment.
- Evaluate the results and promote the scaling up of these solutions in a network.
- The impact on the creation of new companies (spin-offs/startups), interregional collaboration and the connection with cohesion policies and European financial instruments will be particularly valued.
