Each year, the Commission adopts its annual work programme which sets out the list of the most important actions it will undertake in the coming year.
The Commission’s work programme for 2024 focuses on further easing the burden on businesses and streamlining reporting requirements, in line with the strategy to boost the EU’s long-term competitiveness. It includes important proposals adopted since March 2023 and taken forward with the work programme, addressing stakeholders’ concerns and without undermining policy objectives. Future actions to reduce the burden will also be set out in the assessments and fitness checks announced in the work programme.
The programme also recalls some 150 priority legislative proposals that have already been tabled by the Commission and are due to become law by the European Parliament and the Council before the parliamentary recess and the end of this mandate.
